Questions
Do I need a permit for new floors?
Usually not. The City of Calgary asks no permit for finishes when nothing structural changes. A first-time basement is different: it needs a building permit.
Can flooring be part of a basement job?
Yes. In a basement development the floor goes in near the end, after drywall and paint. See basement development.
